Path of The Keeper also started as a NaNoWriMo project but in 2018 this time. That year I found my lost in the bog of sequel writing with no map and no story bible. I still wrote the 50K words with only a plot point outline, and a lot of tears, and then left the book alone for years because I’d never written a sequel and I felt totally intimidated by the scope of the project. When I finally came back to the project with The Spark Keeper fresh in my mind it was to a manuscript with giant holes in it that I had to figure out how to fix. And then I ended up adding in an additional scene and a whole extra chapter beta readers requested.

Sitting here with the novel complete and published feels really good. I wish I could go back and tell 2019 me to keep going with the project, but I guess it wouldn’t have been the same book if I’d finished writing it back then. All those lessons, the ones I learned about writing a series and the general writing ones, will come in handy as I continue to tackle book three (which I seem to be learning even more about writing a series as I go).
