May, June & July were consumed with the move. I had to downsize a 4-bedroom house into a small-ish storage unit and a mini van after 14.5 years of living in the same home. It was no small feat, with kids working and almost no help from family and friends. But I put writing books and publishing aside and got it done.
August was all about unpacking and adjusting to a new lifestyle. Proud to say, I did get back to being an author along the way. I now live full time in my mini van with my dog. My oldest child lives behind me in a trailer. We have no plumbing or running water and limited electricity so life has been interesting. Everything takes way more time to accomplish than it used to. Don’t get me started on living with the heat in a dark blue min van!
The Paperback of The Spark Keeper is designed. I’m not entirely sure I’m happy with it, so it’s sitting until I complete that other task I put off because finances are at a skeleton budget after the move-moving is expensive and it ate through my savings.
The hardcover edition is on hold as more hardcover printers are surfacing and I am waiting to find just the right one!
If you’ve been on the Book 3 webpage you’ll know I was supposed to be finishing the first draft of Book 3 way back in April. It did not happen and I haven’t been able to update the page since.
However! I am please to announce, not only did I finish writing the first draft in August (oh boy there were some plot twists!), as of the publication of this post, Book 3 is nearly finished with edits and ready to send to my beta reader. Title and cover reveal should be coming soon. I am so excited for the reveal. And getting the next part of Sorcha’s journey as The Keeper into your hands.
On a side note, I have started to work on the plot for book four! It’s coming along and it’s got some surprises even I didn’t see coming. The plan is to finish plotting it over the next 2 months and write it in November-because that’s when Spark Books are written! (Not on purpose, just seems to be the way things have gone.)
Tamlen tapped the screen and brought up a map of The Spark. “That was there this whole time?” Sorcha asked incredulously. “Yeah…, maybe I should have shown you sooner. But at least you’ve learned to navigate through a good portion of The Spark on your own?” Sorcha mimed choking Tamlen, who laughed, relieved that she wasn’t pissed with him.
