The Spark Keeper by C. Rossler

The Spark Keeper started as a NaNoWriMo project way back in 2016. I found the seed of the idea on the plot adoption forums, wrote 50K words with only a skeletal outline and then left the book alone until the summer of 2017 where I wrote another 30K. Over the years I would pick the manuscript up and edit or add more plot points-so much so that the plot for one book turned into 3, then 4 books.

No matter what else I wrote, The Spark Keeper always, eventually, floated back to the top of my mind. No matter how many times I’ve gone back to re-read this novel, I’ve fallen a little more in love with the story and the characters. In late 2023, in the midst of heartbreak and deep depression, I turned to these characters for comfort and began writing book 3 for my final NaNoWriMo project. This sparked the eventual full edit of book 1, plus I finished writing the ending of book 1 (endings are hard), sent The Spark Keeper to beat readers, completed another round of edits, created new cover designs and finally found the courage to push forward and publish my first novel.

I am excited to share my safe space with readers.
